is all around. And we are the visitors in their wilderness home. You
will wonder
who is watching who. New for the 2007 summer season! A week long photo
workshop shooting scenics and wildlife with a professional photographer.
Icy straits is a short distance from our lodge and is known as the "largest
concentration of humpback whales in Alaska". Sometimes at night
you can hear them blowing as they rub their bellies on the beach right
in front
of the lodge.
Sea otters are also common with pods as large as 200 animals. They get
used to our boats and will sometimes let us come right up and take pictures.
Bears are a little too common, especially in the spring when they come
around the lodge and give us some excitement. Later in the summer you will
find them feeding on salmon and lounging in the grass flats of one of the
many estuaries that dot each bay and cove.
Bald eagles, puffins, seals, sea lions and many species of wildlife are
also seen in large numbers. |
