Whales are a constant presence in southeast Alaska and Icy Straits, which is not far from the lodge, boasts the highest concentration of humpback whales in Alaska. It is common to see humpbacks while out on the water and we often have them feeding in the waters right out front of the lodge. Orca are also a common sight and will move through the area very fast hunting seals.
